The impending war with Iraq has left me very conflicted. Who do I hate more, the
disloyal western Europeans or the crazy protesters here in America. It is a very close call,
however I am going to give the edge to the prissy snail and kraut eaters. Though, I do
sincerely hope that the 21st century “hippies” do take a long walk off a short pier.

Western Europe, in particular Germany and France, have taken serious issue with our
intention to use military force to remove Saddam Hussein from power. They claim that
diplomacy through the U.N. is the only stable and humane solution. Of course this is a
blatant lie. W. Europe knows that Saddam Hussein and his regime, using the resources of
Iraq, are global threats that threaten the entire civilized world. However, they are
unwilling to concede the only viable and practical option is armed conflict. I wish it was
misplaced ideology or even cowardice that informs the disastrous position of W. Europe,
but in fact it is something much more insidious. They reject the our position, because it is
the United States of America making it, and not due to any moral or social values. I will
let you in on a secret, W. Europe wants to distance itself from American in every way
possible, in order to set themselves up as an alternative. That is why they formed the
European Union (EU), it serves a unified platform for them to compete with the United
States. The EU has no military muscle and is limited to political and economic
persuasion. Thus, they use the U.N. to simultaneously express their growing power and
demonstrate to the world that they are an alternative to the USA Basically all this means
one thing, the EU is concerned with garnering more power & money regardless of the
long term consequences. All the charges levied against the United States by crazy liberals
from both sides of the Atlantic, are for once valid. Their is a greedy, power crazed player
in this game, who is using the Iraqi threat as a selfish vehicle to further their own interests.
Though we are not the villain, but obviously the European Union is.

So I have an alternative the EU, a distinctly American organization which goes by the
acronym F U.
